Jay R. Dayton, Jr.

Our father, Jay “Jake” Richard Dayton, Jr., age 68 of Toledo, Ohio, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2023 at his home in East Toledo. He was born July 8, 1954 to Jay Richard Dayton, Sr. and Nancy Dayton in Toledo, Ohio. He was a graduate of Anthony Wayne High School and attended Penta for small engine repair. He served in the United States Army for 12 years from 1976 to 1988.

Jay was an avid fisherman and that is how he loved to spend his free time or with the wind in his hair riding his motorcycle.

He is survived by his sister, Vickie (Dan) Robinson; brother, Daniel Dayton; daughters, Christine (Thomas) Hetrick, Amy (Bryan) Stanlake, Emily (Paul) Mozoski; sons, Joshua Dayton, Sr. and Jeremy Thompson; 14 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Brenda (Tom) Mulligan; his second wife, Debra (Marc) Ullrich; his grandson, Joshua “JJ” Dayton, Jr.; and his sisters, Sherry (Scott) Snyder and Shirley Osbourne.

Jay will be deeply missed by our family. There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Hope Community Church of the Nazarene (5650 Starr Ext.) beginning at 11 am with a luncheon to follow.
