Jason Edward Osterman

November 10, 1971 — December 4, 2025

Jason Edward Osterman, age 54, passed away on December 4, 2025, in his home in Ottawa Lake, Michigan after a yearlong battle with cancer. Jason was a man of few words and incredibly stubborn, but once you were his friend, you were a friend for life.

Jason was born on November 10, 1971, in Toledo, Ohio. He spent his childhood on Sherbrooke Road in Toledo. His parents, Bud and Diana Osterman, had an open door policy for their children’s friends. There was always a full house on Sherbrooke.

Jason was a 1990 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School where he played baseball and formed lifelong friendships. Many of Jay’s friends from St. Francis were with him until the very end.

Jason loved his work as a tile contractor and enjoyed being self-employed. He formed countless friendships through work. His work friends were incredibly supportive as he went through his struggles with cancer.

Jason had three nephews and loved being an uncle. He enjoyed taking them riding on four-wheelers and the jet ski at Berlin Lake. Jay and his Uncle Ed (McComesky) would road trip over to Kent to watch Jack, Luke and Eli play hockey. The boys loved when Uncle “Jeeson” and Uncle Ed would stay over to play Euchre after the games. Everyone felt bad that Uncle Ed would always lose.

From the time Jason was little, his family would take a yearly trip up to Minnesota to visit Uncle George (McComesky) and his family. In later years, this trip turned into an annual guys’ fishing trip to Strand Lake in Minnesota. Jason looked forward to this trip every year. He loved spending this time with his family and friends. The stories and memories from these trips have a special place in the hearts of all who were able to make the trips with Jay.

While battling cancer, Jason was treated by an incredible doctor, Dr. Phinney. He and his staff at The Toledo Clinic were knowledgeable, kind and supportive. Dr. Phinney became Jay’s friend along with being his doctor. Jason’s family is grateful to this wonderful doctor and his staff.

Jason’s family would also like to thank Matt and Helen Jozefowicz. Their selflessness and kindness allowed Jay to spend his final months at home. We are all blessed to have their friendship and support.

Jason is survived by his sister, Marda (Chuck) Perrotta; nephews, Jack, Luke and Eli Perrotta; uncle, Ed McComesky; aunt, Sandy (Diane Rich) Osterman; and numerous cousins, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Diana Osterman, and his uncle, George McComesky.

Friends are invited to visit on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave., Toledo, Ohio. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Hospice of Southeast Michigan.
