Jann C. Phelps

Jann C. Phelps, 75, of Port Clinton, Ohio was lifted by angels into Heaven on January 7, 2021. She was born in Braddock, PA on March 26,1945 to the late Colin and Lillian (Schindler) Campbell. Jann is also preceded in death by little granddaughter, Ashley Grace. In 1969, Jann married the love of her life and best friend, J. Steven Phelps in Marion, Ohio where they met. Jann is a graduate of Edgewood High School, Edgewood, PA and she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Ashland College. Starting her teaching career in home economics in 1967, Jann taught at Elgin High School near Marion, Ohio. She then continued at Fremont Junior High and finished at Port Clinton Junior High, retiring in 2003. Jann was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Port Clinton. She enjoyed working alongside and spending time with friends. Other interests included activities with her family, cooking, sewing, crafting, boating and garage sales. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, J. Steven Phelps; daughters, Amy (Wayne) Earhart of Hilliard, Ohio and Stacey Phelps of Shaker Heights, Ohio; grandchildren Evan and Courtney; sister, Bonnie Legg of Port Clinton as well as loving cousins, a niece and nephews. Visitation will be held at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington Street, Port Clinton, Ohio on Saturday, May 22, 2021, from 10 am until a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 11 am. Memorial contributions may be made in Jann’s name to Trinity United Methodist Church, 135 Adams Street, Port Clinton, OH 43452 or an organization of your choice.
