Janis Loch, age 59 of Sylvania passed away Tuesday January 8, 2013 after a 7 year battle with cancer in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo surrounded by her family. She was born June 27, 1953 in Marion, Ohio to Vernon and Doris Beaver. She graduated from Elgin High School in Marion in 1971. She then attended Bowling Green State University where she earned her Bachelor Degree in Education in 1975 and her Masters Degree in Education in 1979. She taught in the Washington Local School System for 35 years, retiring in 2010. Janis was an active member of Epworth United Methodist Church where she was a member of both the Bell and Chancellor choirs. She also played piano for the childrens services. She was a member of a group of femme fatales known as the flying needles knitting group, a support group that gave Jan friendship, comfort, love and a lot of laughter. Jan had an unconditional love for family, friends and anyone she came in contact with. She will be remembered as a colorful, persevering, spiritual, dedicated, heroic, courageous, beautiful fun loving person with a great wit who was also a fashion diva. She was someone that anyone could call friend and she had you at hello. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and aunt. Jan was preceded in death by her parents; brother Lamont Beaver; father-in-law Cletus Loch; and brother-in-law David Loch. She is survived by her husband of 20 years Nick Loch; son Jonathan Loch; daughter Rachel Loch; step-children Jason Amy Loch and Nicole Jeff Carey; grandchildren Teagan and Graham Loch and Jayson, Josh, Natalie, Jackson and Justyn Carey; brothers David Misop Beaver and Mark Marilyn Beaver; sisters-in-law Beth Beaver and Donna Ray Darr; brother-in-law John Andrea Loch; mother-in-law Mary Loch; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their appreciation for the love, care and support throughout Jans journey. Especially Dr. Rex Mowat and the staff at the Toledo Clinic; the parents of the Sylvania Southview swimming, softball and basketball teams; and the Epworth United Methodist Community. Friends may visit the family at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey on Friday from 2-8 PM. Memorial services will be held Saturday at 11 AM in Epworth United Methodist Church 3077 Valleyview Dr. Toledo, Ohio 43615. Interment will be private.
