Janis A. Jakab

Janis A. Jakab age 83 passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at the Elizabeth Scott Community. She was born on May 3, 1939, to Dougal W. and Wanita L. (Cheney) McKay.

Janis was an avid bowler and played in leagues at Miracle Lanes and Glass Bowl. She also enjoyed spending her summers in South Haven, MI, knitting and quality time with her family and many friends. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor, always making people laugh and she had a comment for everything. Anyone who knew Janis, knew the love she had for cats.

Surviving are her children, Christopher L. Jakab and Jill A. Deitering; grandsons, Quinn (Madi) and Zane Deitering and sisters, Sherry Howard and Lynn (Derril) Bodnar. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Jakab; son-in-law, Greg Deitering and brother in-law, Jerry Howard.

The family would like to thank the Elizabeth Scott Community and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the exceptional care our mother received in her last days; and Dr. William Schafer for treating our mother like family.

Family and friends will be received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St. Maumee on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, from 10:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM.
