Janice L. DeFriece, 82, of Port Clinton, OH passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at her daughter’s home in Oak Harbor, OH. She was born on November 17, 1938 in Wayland, KY to Orville and Golden (Campbell) Walls. On January 26, 1956 in Port Clinton, OH she married James DeFriece, and he survives. Janice worked previously for Hickory Farms and for Edgewood Manor Nursing Home in Port Clinton. She was a previous member of the Port Clinton Baptist Church. Janice enjoyed camping in Mohican State Park, flower gardening, sewing, shopping, playing cards, bowling in a league, going to flea markets, and baking her famous Buckeye candies. In addition to her loving husband of over 65 years, James, Janice is survived by her daughters, Margie Roberts of Port Clinton, Donna Ninke, Mary Jones, and Martha Phillips all of Oak Harbor, 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, twin sister, Phyllis Steele of Port Clinton, sisters-in-law, Shelby Peto, June DeFriece, Dallas (Linda) DeFriece, and Delores DeFriece, nieces & nephews, and her beloved dog, Dolly. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Robert E. and James E. Walls, sister, Faye Collins, and grandson, Steven Phillips. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., Thursday, October 7, 2021 at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 8, 2021. Janice’s oldest grandson, Dr. Jeff Jones, will be officiating the service. Burial will follow in McPherson Cemetery, Clyde, OH.
