Janice Starr Coakley, 85 of Perrysburg, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2022 at St. Vincent’s Hospital. She was born August 25, 1937 to Roy and Annie (Starr) Lodge in Toledo. After graduating from Waite High School in 1955, Janice would work as a long distance telephone operator for the Bell Telephone Company of Toledo. She then married George R. Coakley in 1960. She would then move to Logan, Ohio where she spent most of her life until 2021, when she moved to Perrysburg to live at the Waterford of Levis Commons, where her sister lives.
She lived many years near Hocking Hills State Park and enjoyed all the wildlife that visited her yard, and especially loved caring for her pet dogs and cats over the years. Janice even volunteered in the Hocking Hills State Park Visitor Center. In addition to a long career as an administrative assistant in a family medical office in Logan, Ohio, She was also an active in the Eastern Star organization and a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of Logan, Ohio. Janice was very friendly and outgoing with a great sense of humor and was always ready to get together with friends and family for an activity, cards, or just to talk.
Janice is survived by her sister, Joyce E. Willard; nephews David (Karen) Willard and Jon (Debi) Willard; niece Karen (Stephen) Foley; four great-nephews; four great-nieces; and many extended family and friends living in Logan and Perrysburg. She is preceded in death by her husband George R. Coakley, sister Margaret A. Lodge, and her parents.
Friends and family will be received Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 11 AM to 12 PM at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home (222 E. South Boundary St. Perrysburg, OH 43551). A memorial service will be held following gathering at 12 PM. Memorial contributions in Janice’s honor may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
