Janette L. Dewitz, 91, of Oak Harbor, Ohio died Friday, December 23, 2016 at the Genoa Retirement Village, Genoa, Ohio. She was born to Harvey and Cora (Johns) Weidner on January 24, 1925 in Oak Harbor, Ohio. On April 21, 1945 she married Alton Dewitz at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor, by Rev. O.C. Doegnes. Janette was a confirmed member of St. Paul UCC, a past Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Locust Point Grange. She was a homemaker, who loved to cook, bake cookies, craft, and enjoy her family and grandchildren. She assisted her husband in the operation of their farm and was always very happy in her role as a farm wife. She and Alton were married for 57 years when he preceded her in death. In their life they enjoyed boating, camping and traveling. In later years they spent 10 years during the winter months in Lakeland, Florida. Janette was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Ralph Weidner, sisters Doris Corthell and Dorothy Lenz, grandchildren, Troy Dewitz and Sarah Dewitz and brothers-in-law, William Claypool, Paul Corthell and Walter Lenz. She is survived by her sons, Richard Dick (Mary Smith) Dewitz, Tom (Candee) Dewitz, Harry (Judith) Dewitz, daughter, Debra (John Red) Fox, 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and sister, Margie Claypool Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. The funeral service for Janette will be conducted by Rev. David Voll at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 165 Toussaint St., Oak Harbor, Ohio 43449. Interment will be next to her husband in the Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. The family suggests memorials to St. Paul United Church of Christ or Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd. Perrysburg, Ohio 43551.
