Janet Ann Spalding

Spalding Janet Ann Janet Ann Spalding, age 77, passed away Friday, June 27, 2008 at her home in Toledo. Born to Dolphis and Eleanor LaJeunesse on March 14, 1931, Janet was a 1949 graduate of Central Catholic High School and still remained close with many of her classmates. She worked in retail and cosmetic at LaSalles/Macys. Later, Janet went back to school and earned her LPN and began a second career working for Swanton Health Care until retirement. Janet loved being a mother and grandmother. She enjoyed attending her grandkids activities and was proud of their accomplishments. She delighted in spoiling her family at Christmas with homemade crafts and baked goods. She cherished the many trips to the west coast to see Jeff & Sue and their families during Christmas as well. She was a competitive card player who enjoyed a fierce game of euchre or whatever the game of the day was. Janet looked forward to getting together with her friends a couple of times every week for bridge. She and Tom traveled to car rallies throughout the Midwest and were proud of their restored 1909 Brush antique car. Janet is survived by her longtime companion, Thomas Rectenwald, Sr; children, Jeffrey Jan, Leslie Mark Kott, Doug Jenny, and Sue Randy Protz; grandchildren, Shelby, Lauren, Gwen, Todd, Greg, Christina, Stacie, Andrew, Rachel, Kevin, Jeremy, Katie, Amy, and Riley; brothers, Joseph Doris and Thomas Deborah LaJeunesse; sisters, Judith William Weber and Ellen Jerry King; and all of her card friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Eleanor Hellrung; and brother, Timothy LaJeunesse. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3-8:00pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. with a Rosary at 7:30 PM Funeral services will begin on Wednesday with prayers at the funeral home at 9:15 AM followed by Mass of the Resurrection at Historic Church of St. Patrick, 130 Avondale Ave., Toledo at 10:00 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Catholic high School or to the Charity of the Donors Choice.
