Janet Ann McGaharan, 73, of Leesburg, FL passed away peacefully Friday, June 23, 2023 at her other home in Toledo, OH. She was born on June 26, 1949 in Toledo, OH to Franklin George and Barbara Evelyn (Wheeler) Moomey. On January 20, 1968 in Toledo, OH she married James M. McGaharan, and he preceded her in death on April 12, 2019.
Janet enjoyed quilting, playing cards, and spending time with her family. She was always the entertainment of the family and known as the “orneriest” one of the bunch. In previous years, she enjoyed ceramics and decorating her home for every holiday. Janet and Jim also enjoyed bowling in leagues together for many years. Janet had a zest for life and a heart of gold and her voice will be missed by all who knew her. She was lovingly referred to as “Fun Aunt Janet” and “Fun Grandma”.
Janet is survived by her daughters, Stacy McGaharan and Kelly Sparks, grandchildren, Chelsey, Katie, Chevy, Carlie, James and Daniel, great grandchildren, LeDesi, Harper, Southern, Harlow, and Woody, sisters, Sharon (Tom) Christy and Annette (Jody) Hatfield, brothers, Melvin Moomey, Ray (Chris) Moomey, and Robert Thomas, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and longtime friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, James, parents, Barbara (Homer) Thomas and Franklin (Marian) Moomey, and son-in-law, Keith Sparks.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 2-8 p.m. at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 Conant St., Maumee, OH The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., with burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Toledo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Janet may be given to Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
