Janet Marian Millinger, 79, of Graytown, OH passed away early Saturday, August 20, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 27, 1943 in Toledo, OH to Willis T. and Marian A. (Green) Rapparlie. She graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 1961. She completed the Riverside Hospital School of Nursing on August 23, 1964, where she was honored with the Florence Nightingale Award for the all-around top student in her nursing class. She retired after over 30 years of service from Riverside Hospital as the supervisor of the surgery department and surgical nurse. On September 28, 1963, she married Robert F. Millinger at Grace Lutheran Church in Toledo.
Janet was a great housewife, baker, medical confidante, travel companion, party coordinator, and wonderful, loving mom. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, pulling weeds, baking, knitting, reading books, and she was a proud frugal person. Janet was most importantly a mentor, encourager, supporter, caregiver, educator, and an extremely humble person. She loved German chocolate, pastries, and top-shelf Scotch. Her presence and wit will be greatly missed.
In addition to her loving husband, Bob, of over 58 years, she is survived by her daughter, Wendy Millinger, son, David (Gayle) Harder-Millinger, grandchildren, Davyd (Taylor Ablondi) Perry, Rebekah Perry, Matthew Shiffert, and Jason Shiffert, great grandchild, Lacey Shiffert, and siblings, Gail (Bruce) Stockton, Joan Paternoster, Jim (Camille) Rapparlie. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Rebecca Joan Millinger, and brother-in-law, Steve Paternoster.
Visitation for Janet will be Tuesday, August 23, 2022 from 2-8 p.m. at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor, OH. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Martin, OH (Blackberry) with burial to follow in Elliston Cemetery, Elliston, OH with a Final Farewell Toast of Scotch.
