Janet M. Schmidt

Janet M. Schmidt, 63, of Martin, OH passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Bay Park Community Hospital, Oregon, OH. She was born on July 10, 1957 in Toledo, OH to Harold J. and Velma (Diefenthaler) Fillmore. She graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 1975. Janet worked most recently at Meijer’s in the deli/meat department. Previously she had worked as a homemaker and cleaned houses for 19 years, and worked at Vern Miller Chevrolet in Oak Harbor, and Kahn & Diehl Eye Center in Oregon for many years. Janet was a very creative person and was wonderful at woodworking, arts & crafts, sewing, drawing, painting, cooking, baking, cake decorating, gardening her flowers, and bird watching. Her family, especially her grandkids were the world to her. Janet is survived by her fiancé, Jeff Cluckey, children, Jeremy (Kelly) Tailford, Ryan (Jamie) Tailford, and Melissa (Aaron Meinke) Losie, grandchildren, Paige, Kate, Lauren, & Jack Sanders, Jack, Robert, & Olivia Meinke, and Leyton & Landon Losie, siblings, Diane Meckfessel and Lauren (Glenda) Fillmore, and nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Scott Meckfessel. Memorial services for Janet will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 17, 2021 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 122 W. Ottawa St., Oak Harbor, OH with visitation one hour prior from 10-11 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, Janet asked that those wishing to send flowers send them to someone living that they love or memorial contributions may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Ottawa County Shriners.
