Janet W. Lorentz, a longtime resident of Catawba Island died, Saturday, August 01, 2015 at Edgewood Manor Nursing Home in Port Clinton. She was born, November 08, 1928 the daughter of Edward and Helen Wright of Fostoria, OH. A graduate of St. Wendelin’s High School in Fostoria, she then studied art at the Ohio State University. After a resort hospitality career in Bermuda and Montreal, Canada, she moved to Catawba Island in 1973. She owned and operated Studio 53 on Catawba for several years and had her personal art work displayed at the Toledo Museum of Art early in her career. She is survived by a brother: John Wright of Las Vegas and three Step-Sons: William and James of Akron, OH and Robert of Athens, Georgia . Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Lorentz Jr., her parents and brother, Frank. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a longtime member of the Catawba Island Club. A private memorial service will be held. Burial will be in Catawba Island Cemetery. Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory has assisted the family with arrangements. Memorial donations in memory of Janet can be given to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
