Janet Mears Hetrick

Janet (Mears) Hetrick, 79, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, July 27, 2016, after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family, friends and caregivers. Janet was born February 11, 1937, in Sandusky, OH, the daughter of Frank and Thelma D. (Watzel) Mears. She worked at Andy’s Party Mart, A&P Grocery Store and Bassett’s, until her retirement in 2013. On September 01, 1956, she married Robert W. Hetrick and he survives. Janet was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton, OH and was a member of the Quilt Guild in Oak Harbor. Jan would like to let you know that her work here on earth is done. She received a “call”, sort of an offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign on bonus, a reunion with family and friends, she has not seen in a long time, job security is exactly 110%. Her new mission leads her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, gardening, baking, sewing and quilting, till her heart’s content. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed. Food there is delicious. She left detailed instructions for everyone to celebrate her mission here as well as her life. She will be deeply missed by family, friends and anyone who knew her. (Denny) Wood; Grandson: Jeffrey (Jessica) Hetrick: Great-Grandson: Ryan Kuehling; Sisters: Barbara Mears and Colleen Nitchke; Brother: Edward Mears. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother: Frank Mears, granddaughter: Sarah Hetrick and grandson: Ryan Hetrick. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8PM, Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Dr. James Lehman, Monday, August 01, 2016 at 11:00AM. at St. John Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor, OH.
