Janet D. Colston, 66, of Port Clinton, OH passed away late Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, OH. Janet was born in Port Clinton, OH on April 13, 1943 to Morton and Josephine Cover Everett. On January 28, 1990 in Las Vegas, NV she married Calvin W. Colston. Janet retired after serving 20 years as a Deputy Sheriff for the Ottawa County Sheriffs Department. She was a graduate of Providence Hospital in Sandusky, OH and worked as a nurse in the Chicago area for 10 years. Janet attended church and was raised in the Methodist faith. She enjoyed being a member of the Port Clinton Yacht Club, but her greatest joys were her family, grandchildren and dear friends. Surviving family includes, husband, Calvin W. Colston of Port Clinton, son, John Karen Blatt of Everett, WA, daughter, Jennifer Tim Baker of Medina, OH, step-sons, Tracy Terri Colston of Port Clinton, Tim Cheryl Colston of Fremont, OH, Paul Anna Colston of Springhill, TN, grandchildren, Connor and Erin Baker, Owen Blatt, Derek and Cory Colston, Jessica Chris Renner, McKenzie and Andrew Colston, great-granddaughter, Reagan Renner, brother, Ronald Everett. Janet was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Lois Everett Kloock. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. Visitation will be held from 2-8PM on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home and Crematory, 216 Washington Street, Port Clinton, OH. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 PM, Wednesday, December 16, 2009 in the funeral home, where additional visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Janet may be directed to Stein Hospice of Sandusky, OH or to the Humane Society of Ottawa County.
