Jane E. Yenrick, 94, of Rossford, Ohio, passed away peacefully under hospice care in her home Saturday afternoon, July 26, 2025, surrounded by members of her loving family. Born Thursday, June 4, 1931, in East Toledo, Ohio, Jane was the only child of A. William and Cornelia Harpster Palmer. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin, and aunt. Jane attended East Side Central and Navarre Elementary Schools and was a member of Morrison R. Waite High School's Class of 1949. Jane married the love of her life, Robert E. Yenrick, a fellow East Toledoan, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in East Toledo, on Saturday, August 26, 1950. Together, they began a partnership of community service while they raised five children and actively supported their children's many endeavors. Jane sincerely believed that it was better to give than to receive and she always advocated for the youth of Northwest Ohio. For more than 70 years, Jane was truly "the woman” behind the successful man. She unselfishly supported her husband's professional and volunteer life and those of her children.
Growing up in East Toledo, Jane loved the Eastside and she loved Waite High School. She was a member of the Morrison R. Waite Chapter of the National Honor Society and participated in the Periclean Literary Society and Student Government. During her Senior year, she was named Editor of the school newspaper, THE SIZZLE. After high school graduation, she attended the University of Toledo for one year and then married and started to raise her family. During this time, she volunteered for the March of Dimes, for the Parent Teacher Association, and she served as East Side Central Elementary School's Mothers Club President. Jane was a long-standing member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church and actively volunteered there, as well. After her children were raised, she became treasurer for the East Toledo Historical Society. She was instrumental in helping to organize Morrison R. Waite High School Alumni's annual Golden Years Luncheon and aided in raising money for the W.A.I.T.E., Inc. Scholarship Fund. For many years, she volunteered at the East Toledo Family Center and Morrison R. Waite High School where she catered numerous luncheons for both organizations. In 2010, the City of Toledo presented Jane and her family with the Key to the City for its exceptional community service.
In 1962, Jane and her husband opened their own picture framing business, “Robert's Frame Shop,” in East Toledo and later relocated to Oregon, Ohio. For 31 years, she served as its Business Manager. Jane was employed by the Toledo Lucas County Public Library as a Senior Clerk for more than 25 years and fulfilled assignments at the Locke and Oregon Branch Libraries.
In addition to volunteering, Jane enjoyed hobbies that included reading gardening, sewing, knitting, Western Square Dancing with her husband, training and over feeding the family dogs, and doing spontaneous projects around the house. In their early years as a couple, because of her husband's employment, she and Bob were able to do some foreign travel. During her retirement years, she and Bob continued to travel throughout the United States with their children and grandchildren.
Jane was predeceased by her parents, her aunt, Margaret H. Fischer, her uncle, Donald H. Harpster, her in-laws, McClelland and Mae Cassley Yenrick, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Carl M. and Marguerite Minnick Yenrick, her nephew, Paul Yenrick, several cousins, and her beloved fur babies. She is survived by her children, Deborah, Robert (Dianna), David (Carolyn), Timothy (Linda), and Connie, who was her faithful caregiver. Also left to cherish her memory are grandchildren, Robert (Holly), Chad (Alison Peer), Mathew (Andrea), Katherine (Joe Salameh), Christopher, William (Kellie), Leigh, and Anne (Sam Woodring), great-grandchildren Rebekah (Will Nagy), Skyler, Palmer, Olivia, Sydah, Stella Mollie, Cole, Asher, Mia, Jack, and Wren, nephew, Philip (Suzanna) Yenrick, and dear family friend and former co-worker, Joanne Loolen.
Visitation will take place on Monday, August 4, 2025, from 10 am to 11 am at All Saints Catholic Church, 628 Lime City Road, Rossford, Ohio, where the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 am. A private graveside service will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Jane's memory be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences may be made at walkerfuneralhomes.com.
