Jane Ann Morris

April 8, 1945 — February 20, 2022

Jane A. Morris, 76, formerly of Genoa, OH, passed away at 9:00 p.m. on February 20, 2022, at Otterbein Senior Life, Pemberville, OH under Hospice care.  She was born April 8, 1945, in Lima, OH, the daughter of Carl and Leona (Shepler) Morris, both who have preceded her in death.

She was one of four children raised in Spencerville, OH. Survivors include all her siblings, William L. Morris, Lima, OH, Eleanor E. (Blaine) Place, Ft. Myers, FL, Kathleen M. Anders, Lima, OH, her two daughters, Julia L. Roesner-Rowan (Thomas Rowan), Pemberville, OH and Jodi L. Roesner (long-term companion Douglas Kuiper), Millbury, OH, four grandchildren, and many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Jane was a 1963 graduate of Spencerville High School, active in multiple activities from choir to sports teams especially citing many fond stories playing on the basketball team. Predominately her love of music continued throughout her life, actively sharing her gift of singing in church choirs and ensembles, as a soloist for weddings and events, as a former member of The Swiss Singers, Oregon, OH, and simply at home at the piano or while vacuuming. Jane married Lewis E. Roesner in 1965, living initially in Grove City, OH, while spending most of their time together in Elmore, OH, where they raised their family.

Jane had a lengthy career in medical records and transcription, primarily working at St. Charles Mercy Hospital, Oregon, OH and Summa Health Care, Akron, OH, from which she retired in 2010. Her attention to detail was shared in her personal life where, for multiple years, she was scorekeeper and proud member of the coaching staff for Elmore Express Girls Youth Softball Team. She loved competition which translated into her love of all sports. You could hear her cheering loudly at her children and grandchildren’s youth sports games, and she was described as one of the few grandmothers known to watch ESPN.

Jane loved to cook and bake.  No one could ever say they left her house hungry. Jane was described as an extraordinary inclusive host, making all who crossed her threshold feel genuinely at home. While in Elmore, her home was opened to host multiple exchange students from six-week stents to one full year, with Chardin “Chayo” Fernandez, Oaxaca, Mexico, who affectionately referred to Jane also as ‘Mom’. Jane further shared her talents as a seamstress, making wedding or bridesmaid dresses, or helping with alterations. Many shared they loved her infectious laugh and warm beautiful smile.

A private grave site memorial and burial shall be held at Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or any desired selection by the donor.
