Jane Ellen Ashenfelter

May 14, 1925 — March 3, 2021

Jane Metzger Ashenfelter completed her long journey of 95 years on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 and went to her eternal home to be with her Lord, family and friends that went before her. Jane and her twin sister, June, were born in Waterville to Charles and Ella Metzger on May 14, 1925. Jane was a lifelong resident of the area. After graduating from Waterville High School in 1943, she went to work at First Federal Savings and Loan of Toledo and worked there for 28 years. In 1945, she married Paul Ashenfelter. They raised four children: Roger, Kay Ann, Peggy Lynn, and Rick. Jane was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Waterville, a past worthy Matron of the Roche De Bouef Chapter of the Eastern Stars, Past President of the Maumee Elk’s Ladies. She kept the Elk Widows Luncheon group together for twenty-four years. She was a member of the Waterville Historical Society and was very honored to be Queen for Roche De Bouef Day in 2013. She was preceded in death by grandparents; husband, Paul; half-sister, Beatrice Grimm; half-brother, Clyde Metzger; daughter, Peggy Hall; son, Richard Ashenfelter; grandson, Ron and Joshua Height; her soulmate, Jerry Disher; and her twin sister, June Gchwand. Jane is survived by her son, Roger (Diana); daughter, Kay (Paul) Wymer; three grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. Service will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 from 9 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M. at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee. Interment at Wakeman Cemetery in Waterville. In lieu of flowers, Jane requested donations to the Presbyterian Church. Her father helped build the church many years ago.
