Jane Archambeau

April 29, 1936 — June 11, 2022

Jane A. Archambeau earned her wings on this earth as an extraordinary mother and grandmother who was gifted with grace, kindness, and compassion for others. She was extremely talented and sang with the voice of an angel performing at weddings, church choir, singing groups and even on television programs when she was younger. She was born on April 29, 1936 in Toledo, Ohio to Dorothy (Ladd) and John Halderman. Jane had great faith her entire life attending the Boulevard Church of Christ as a child, and Maumee United Methodist Church later in life, where she sang in the choir and made sure her children were raised with a love for Jesus Christ. Jane attended Lincoln Elementary School, and graduated from Scott High School in 1954. She marched on to the University of Toledo where she was a majorette for the UT marching band and a member of the Ohio Epsilon Chapter of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. She also worked with children’s marching units teaching for the Maumee Highlanders and Springfield Strutters. Jane was always active socially, hosting parties at her home (she was a fabulous cook), and attending her children’s cheerleading and sporting events at Maumee High School and beyond. Her love of sports grew and grew and she was a fixture at her grandchildren’s sporting events come rain or shine. She delivered team meals to the Sylvania Southview football team every Friday when her grandson played, and was lovingly referred to as “Grandma Jane” as she sat outside the locker room in her wheelchair (win or lose) to pass out hugs and words of encouragement. A die-hard Ohio State Buckeye football fan, she loved nothing more than holding court with her sons and watching football every chance she got. In addition to sports and music, Jane loved nature and cruising with her sister, and best friend, Cindy, through Oak Openings and Secor Metroparks. She would be so delighted on spotting a family of deer or other wildlife.  Jane retired from St. Luke’s Hospital in November of 1999, after 21 years. With her bright smile and beautiful eyes, Jane is still remembered by friends and colleagues from her days at St. Luke’s.

Jane is survived by her loving children; Maria Escobar (John), Michael Govito (Jackie), Michael Jacob, Joseph Jacob, Kimberlie Jacob Campbell, Holly Govito Goldstein-Becher (Michael), Peter Govito, David Archambeau (Sandi) and grandchildren; Stephanie Jacob (fiancé Jesse), Ryan Jacob, Marisa Escobar, Zale Goldstein, Kallahan Becher, Kamden Becher and Kalie Campbell. She is also survived by great grandchildren; Justin Jr., Jaida, Ava, Esperanza, Vinciano and Valentino Romero and her siblings; Cindy Applegate (Bud) and John Halderman (Ingrid). She also wishes to acknowledge her beloved nieces and nephews; David Applegate, Tamara Hawkins (Richard), John Halderman Jr. (David), Julie Halderman Brown (Paul) and Heather Halderman Gschnell. Jane is preceded in death by her husbands; Richard Jacob, Peter Govito, Francis Archambeau and parents; John and Dorothy Halderman (Ladd) and son-in-law, Thomas Campbell.
