Jan Ellsworth Davidson, 89, of Maumee, Ohio, passed away on March 19, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, service, and cherished memories. Born on January 2, 1935, in Maumee, Ohio, Jan's life was marked by a love for his family and simple joys.
Jan found joy in fishing along the Maumee River, where he spent many peaceful hours casting a line. He took great pride in his collection of die-cast cars, many of which he accumulated during trips with his wife Norma to Frankenmuth, Michigan, which was a favorite pastime. They also enjoyed Saturday evenings at the Maumee Elks.
His playful spirit shone through in his interactions with his grandchildren, with whom he played basketball and shared countless joyful moments at family gatherings. Jan's service in the Army Reserves as a top honor graduate in the Field Artillery Division was a source of immense pride, reflecting his commitment to duty and honor. He was also proud to have been a part of the family business, Davidson Meats in uptown Maumee. He had worked for Conrail Railroad as an engineer, and his love of cars helped him do well in car sales which he enjoyed.
One of Jan's most enduring qualities was his sense of humor, which could lighten any situation. He will be remembered not only for his wit but also for his kindness and easygoing nature.
Jan is survived by his children Jeff (Michele) Davidson, Randy (Christine) Davidson, Lisa (Dave) Ness, and Shelly (Tony) Oberneder, grandchildren, Josh (Jaime), Michael (Kelly), Joel (Jenny), Jordan, Nick (Mari), Elliott (Heather), Megan (Ben), and Evan, 10 great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law, Sue Schoettley.
