Jamie P. Nickel

Jamie P. Nickel, 45, of Wildomar, California, and formerly of Graytown, Ohio, passed away on May 7, 2024, in California. He was born in Oregon, Ohio, on March 11, 1979, the son of Ricky W. and Darlene K. (LaCourse) Nickel.

After graduation, Jamie entered the U.S. Marines Corps. He earned the rank of Sergeant and served in Afghanistan and Okinawa. He also served on the USS Boxer, traveling to thirteen different countries. Jamie continued his education in Florida to become an inspector. After his discharge from the Marine Corps, he served as a border patrol officer and recently as an inspector for the Disney Corporation.

Jamie loved his daughter, Alyssa and stepchildren, Renzo and Italie. He was a great uncle to his nieces and nephews, as they were always excited to see him when he came home so that they could all jump on the trampoline together! When he couldn’t be home, they always looked forward to that special phone call from him as he would tease them about something! He also treasured his friends from all over the world during his career.

Jamie enjoyed woodworking projects and was a great barbeque chef who loved to make wonderful food. He was a true and loyal Buckeye fan, even while he was in California. He will be remembered for his love for his parents and his brothers. They all knew that if there was a sparkle in his eyes, there was a prank coming! He is probably playing all kinds of pranks in heaven with his dad! There are no words to define how much we will miss him.

Jamie is survived by his loving family; mother, Darlene Nickel, daughter, Alyssa Nickel, stepchildren, Italie Macchiavello and Renzo Macchiavello, brothers, Justin (Chelsea) Nickel, Ricky (Kim) Nickel, Douglas (Tawny) Nickel, and his nieces and nephews, Emily, Kara, Serenity, Logan, Cason, Dalton, Haylie, Brynnlie, Audrey, Daisley, Brexton and Clara. He was preceded in death by his father Ricky Nickel.

There will be a graveside service for Jamie, with full military honors, conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Elliston Cemetery, Elliston, Ohio. There will be a gathering of friends and family following the service at Trinity United Church of Christ, 17955 W. Third St., Elliston, Ohio.
