James Wells

October 26, 1948 — April 25, 2025

James (Jim) Wells, 76, passed away on April 25, 2025 as a result of injuries sustained in a fall while walking in the marina where he lived on his boat in Key West, Florida. Jim spent 20 years working at Colton Chemical in Oregon, Ohio, where he served as a Stationary Engineer. After retiring from there, he pursued his long time desire to move to Florida, where he ambitiously took on the challenge of building his own houseboat. It was a labor of love and great pride that took him over a year to complete and that allowed him to set sail and eventually made his way down to Key West. It was there that Jim resided for 35 years and made many friends who shared his passion for being on the water. Those same friends would be quick to point out his kind nature and willingness to lend a hand when anyone needed help. Although lacking any significant educational background, he was a skilled craftsman and some of the projects that he worked on in the area are still there to be seen. Jim always welcomed the opportunity to share a cold beer or two with whoever he might strike up a conversation with.

Jim is survived by his loving sister, Deb Morstadt, long time companion Cynthia Schultz, his children, Jamey Lindhorst (Jennifer), Jeni Brown (Kelly), grandchildren Grayson, Molly, Chelsey, Austin, and great granddaughters, Aubree and Ivy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Judy Wells, brother, Gene Mominee, sister, Nancy Mominee and niece Amy Ross.

There are no memorial services planned at this time.
