James R. Walker, age 87, of Toledo, OH and Vineyard Lake, Brooklyn, MI. died on October 24, 2018. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on June 2, 1931 to Ralph and Irene (Rober) Wachowiak. Jim graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1949 and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Toledo, where he played varsity tennis for three years and was a proud member of Theta Chi fraternity. Jim retired in January 1993 after over 25 years as a Revenue Officer with the Internal Revenue Service. Previously he was employed in commercial and mortgage banking. Jim loved tennis, basketball, swimming, bicycling and golf. He was active in the Cursillo and Christian Family Movement in the Toledo Diocese. He also served on the Youth Board at Blessed Sacrament School, where he was involved in coaching baseball and basketball for 10 years and made sure everyone on his teams got a chance to play. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Suzanne (Ott); son Greg of Santa Barbara, CA; son Mike (wife Eileen), son Tom (wife Jean), grandchild Christopher (girlfriend Nikki), great grandchild Carter of Toledo, OH; daughter Amy, of Alexandria, VA; brother David (wife Marcia) Wachowiak of Bloomfield Hills, MI; and brother Dale (wife Melissa) of Asheville, NC. We’ll all remember his “blue chipper” jokes, articles for us to read, and the way he loved to talk with everyone and anyone. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Kenneth. In keeping with Jim’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no services.
