James W. Roberts

James W. Roberts, 86, of Toledo passed on June 1, 2013 at Ebeid Hospice. He was born on July 14, 1926 to Fred and Hazel Marvin Roberts. He grew up in Vanlue, OH where he played basketball and graduated from the high school. Jim served honorably in the Navy during WWII. He was president of the Time Credit Corp for many years after working in the finance business. He also worked in the real estate business. Jim enjoyed playing golf with his buddies and was a huge fan of Ohio State football. He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church where he was very active and loved. Jim met the love of his life, Janet Schulz, at Community Finance where he was the manager, and they were married on June 6, 1953. Jim was a true family man and a friend to everyone. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janet; children, Pamela Peter Fioritto, Karen Ned Barnes, and Christopher Roberts; grandchildren, Matthew, Sarah, Thomas and Laura Fioritto, Jonathan Jessica, James Briana, Allison, Hope, Benjamin, Joy, Cameron and Aubree Barnes, Joshua McConkey; great-grandchildren, Joanna, Kyle, Alexander, Emilee and Elizabeth Barnes; siblings, Margaret Cook, Donald Jan Roberts and Nancy Roger Lessig. Jim was also a very special uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Amy Sue; sister, Mary Lou Roszman; brothers, Fred and John Roberts. Jim will be remembered as a great husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and friend. Friends are invited to visit at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd on Tuesday, June 4 from 2-8 pm. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, June 5 at 11 am at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, 428 N. Erie St, interment will be at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
