James Helmuth Von Deylen, 81, of Toledo, Ohio, died Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at St. Charles Hospital in Oregon, Ohio.
James was born in Napoleon, Ohio, to Helmuth and Martha on March 17, 1943. He married Linda (Wall) Ackley on August 13, 1994, in Montpelier, Ohio. He retired from his position as purchasing agent at Asset Protection Corporation in 2008. James enjoyed spending time at the lake with family and friends, fishing, gardening, and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Surviving are his daughter, Julia (Roy) Chase; sons, Mike (Laura) Von Deylen and Scott (Beth) Von Deylen; daughter-in-law, Kimber Ackley; sisters, Leona (Lee) Huner, Jean (Don) Engel; brother, Tom Von Deylen; sister-in-law, Jeannie Fleck; 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Linda; father, Helmuth Von Deylen, mother, Martha (Hogrefe) Von Deylen; sisters, Linda and Peggy Von Deylen; Pat Smithhisler, brother, Ron Von Deylen; stepdaughters, Candie and Tammy Ackley; stepsons, Teddy and Timmy Ackley; and grandson, Shane.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 7, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bowling Green chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1033 Conneaut Avenue, Bowling Green, Ohio. Following the service, we welcome family and friends to visit and share refreshments. The Walker Funeral Home – Oregon Chapel, is assisting with arrangements.
