James Richard Stesch

September 5, 1947 — March 2, 2015

Dad • Grandpa • Best Friend • Amateur Comedian • Teacher Jim Stesch, 67, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. On this day, he joined his mother Geneva Stesch, father Richmond Stesch and big sister Vera McVicker in Heaven. He leaves behind the most wonderful memories to son Sean Stesch (Erin), daughter Julie McLaughlin (Danny), three grandchildren Taylor, Teagan and Torrie and two grand-cats Sammie and Stella Stesch. Sharing in memories is his loving family, sister Ruth Marsh (Edward), nieces Heidi and Gretchen, brother in law Charlie McVicker, niece Vera Lynn and nephew John McVicker (Myra). He was a great dad who always took time to listen and to provide wonderful advice. He enjoyed simple things in life like the peace and beauty of Wildwood Park, sitting by the fire on a cool fall day, listening to music and talk radio, watching movies and eating at China One (his all-time favorite restaurant). His children will always hold on to the memories of taking night rides with all of the windows rolled down in the car and the music turned up loud, the exciting adventures at Wildwood and the long weekends snuggling in the basement watching movies. Jim was wild about his granddaughters and loved them so much. He always kept chocolate donuts and bubble gum in stock for them and took great joy in giving them a dollar or two to spend on candy at the store. The girls love him more than anything and will always cherish the times they spent together. He had the most wonderful friends whom he loved dearly and has many cherished memories with. The experiences he had with friends like Barry Marshall (Pam), Roger Start (Karen), Dick Oakley (Marty), Greg Wojciechowski, Nate Holt, Trevor Behan, Chuck and Larry prove for some pretty interesting and wonderful stories. From his funny comments to silly jokes, he made everyone he met laugh. This was a true gift of his. He could cheer anyone up and make someone’s day better and brighter. Jim was a teacher for over thirty years in both public and parochial schools. After living a life of taking care of others, he finally allowed others to take care of him. For the last two weeks of his beautiful life, he truly felt at home with the staff at Northwest Ohio Hospice and even called them family. He will live forever in our hearts and memories. Friends and Family will be received at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, Ohio on Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 10:00 AM until 1:00PM with a Funeral Service at 11:15 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Toledo Humane Society or Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Online condolences may be shared with the family at walkerfuneralhomes.com
