James Edward Speaks

April 11, 1957 — May 7, 2008

James Jim Edward Born 4-11-1957 he was unexpectedly called to heaven on 5-7-08 at the age of 51 from sudden heart failure. Born in Toledo he attended St. Marys grade school and then attended Wooster City Schools. At a young age Jim knew he loved to drive and Truck Driving became his occupation. He also loved traveling, country music, camping, and NASCAR. Jim has been a member of the Sons of The American Legion for over 50 years. Serving our Veterans through the SAL became a great passion for him. Jim held many offices including 5 time Past Commander and most recently went through the chairs to be the 1st Vice Commander of the Great First District of Ohio. He will be sadly missed by all of his loving family and friends. Jim is survived by his wife of 18 years Carol A. Speaks and children, David A. Brown, James R. Speaks II Lena, Robert B. Jones-Speaks Moriah, Sarah J. Speaks, Jamie M. Speaks, Jesse J. Speaks, Stanley T. Lepiarz, Jillian C. Lepiarz, Larry L Aldrich; and 17 Grandchildren whom he loved very much. Also surviving is his brother Robert Meyers Shirley and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father James R Speaks, his mother Maybelle A Langlois Speaks, his sister Mary Marie Hall, and three grandchildren. Friends will be welcomed at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St. Maumee on Saturday May 10th 2-8PM. Services will be held on Sunday at 2PM, with a celebration of life gathering immediately following the service at The American Legion Post #320, 201 Illinois Ave. Maumee.
