James Alfred Royston, age 69, unexpectedly passed away on March 8, 2018 at his home. Jim was born September 12, 1948 in Toledo to the late Alfred and Margaret (McFadden) Royston. A graduate of Whitmer High School, he was a proud United States Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Jim worked as a carpet installer and had previously raised horses on a ranch in Arizona where he lived for more than 15 years. Jim was a cowboy who enjoyed the outdoors, horses, dogs and shooting his guns. He loved spending time with his beloved white dog, Lilly. Independent and strong-willed, Jim did everything he wanted to in life and was content at the time of his death. He is survived by his family with whom he enjoyed spending time, including sister, Kathy (Tim) Schumacher; nieces and nephews, Kristie (Jed) Hoag, Jason (Mandy) McCartney, Melissa (Nick) Sayers and D.J. Schumacher; nine great nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend, Danny Schoenegge. Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Edward Royston. Visitation will be Monday from 2-8 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2018. Military Honors and interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
