James F. Jim Renner, 74, of Toledo, passed away June 15, 2001 at Ebeid Hospice. Jim was born September 24, 1936 in Toledo to the late Harvey and Pansy Hathaway Renner. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Anna; sisters, Betty Otte and Deanna Waldvogel; and brother, George Renner. Jim retired in 1998 after more than 45 years of work as a journeyman roofer. He was a member and past president and past business manager for Roofers Local 134. He also served as chairman of the Joint Apprenticeship Committee. Jim was a member of the Sylvania Moose Lodge and American Legion Post 320. An extremely humble and patriotic man, Jim was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He also loved being outdoors especially gardening, fishing and bird watching. Jim will be remembered as strong-minded, ethical, kind and helpful to others, as well as a great story teller and as the keeper of odd facts. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Janet Riter Renner; his children of whom he was very proud, Phillip Ruth Renner, Brenda Braddock, and Donald Renner; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sister, Marlene Stewart; and brother, John Vivian Renner. Memorial services are being planned for a later date. The Walker Funeral Home and Crematory 419-841-2422 is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the Toledo Humane Society, American Cancer Society, Epiphany Lutheran Church, or a veterans organization of the donors choice.
