James R. Rakosky, 74 of Port Clinton, OH, passed away, Thursday, August 09, 2018, at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, OH. Russ was born on May 19, 1944 in Port Clinton, OH, the son of Paul E. and Evelyn M. (Oglesbee) Rakosky. On May 03, 1969 in Sandusky, OH, he married Karen L. Taber and she survives. Russ was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked for the Ford Motor Co. as a high low driver for 39 years until his retirement in 2001. He also worked full time for the family business, Taber Oil. Russ was an avid golfer, bowler, and Cleveland Brown’s fan. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion Post #113 and Moose Lodge #1610. He took special joy and pride in supporting his children and grandchildren in all of their sporting activities. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Those left to cherish his memory are: Loving Wife of 49 years: Karen L. Rakosky; Sons: Jim (Crystal) Rakosky and children Josh, Jessica, Zoe, Shelby, Olivia Rakosky, Stephani Mcdole and Christian Partlow of Fortville, Indiana and Randy (Megan) Rakosky and children Kegan, Kalee, Rylan and Selah of Marblehead, Ohio. Sisters Paulette Weirich and Patty Chaffin and in laws Patsy (Dave) Jarrett, Debby Taber and Lois Rakosky. Russ was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Eddie Rakosky. Visitation will be on Monday, August 13, 2018 from 2-8pm with family present from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton. Memorial services will take place on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 11am at the funeral home. Interment will be in Sackett Cemetery, Marblehead, OH with Military services being conducted. Memorial contributions may be given to the family.
