James Robert Pickle, Sr.

Pickle J. Robert Bob, Sr. J. Robert Bob Pickle, Sr., age 102 and formerly of Toledo, passed away Monday, November 24, 2008 at the Provina-Geneva Care Center in Geneva, IL. Bob was born in Rutherford County, TN on November 30, 1905. He moved to the Toledo area when he was in his late teens and began a career in the grocery business in 1928. Bob worked for over 45 years at Page Dairy before in retiring in 1972 as sales and distribution manager. He loved fishing, dancing, and traveling and was able to celebrate his 100th birthday with a trip to Atlanta to visit family. Bob was a member of the Rubicon Lodge #237 F AM, 32nd degree Scottish Rite, the Zenobia Shrine- where he was also a member of the Brass Band, the Eagles, and High 12. He was also a member of Epworth United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Bob is survived by his sons, James Robert Pickle, Jr. and Charles H. Pickle; sisters, Frances Kemp and Ann Bowen; 3 grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence, 3 brothers, and a sister. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 from 3-5:30pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd.. Funeral services will be held on at 10:30am on Wednesday at Epworth united Methodist Church, 3077 Valleyview Dr., Toledo, OH with interment following at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
