Lt. James Robert Pauken, Jr., age 40, of Waterville, OH, formerly of Maumee, OH passed away Saturday, February 14, 2009 in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 29, 1968 in Toledo to James Robert and Caroline Ann Davenport Pauken, Sr. Jim was a Police Officer for the Village of Waterville and most recently with the Toledo Lucas County Port Authority for seven years, retiring in 2008 due to his illness. He served as past president of O.P.B.A. at the Port Authority and was on the safety committee for the Village of Waterville. Jim will be remembered by the many laughs he gave everyone and his practical jokes he loved to play on others, but most importantly was his love for his family. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Kristine Alpaugh Pauken whom he married May 27, 2000; daughter, Sarah Ann Pauken; parents, Carol and James, Sr. Pauken; sister, Cindy Roger Sweigart; nephew, Trevor Sweigart; canine companion, Stuart; and several aunts and uncles. Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward and Frieda Pauken and Leland and Lillian Davenport. The family wishes to express a special thank you to nurse Tammy Jacquot at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their exceptional care given to Jim while he was a patient. Family and friends may visit Tuesday from 2-9 p.m. in the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee. Funeral services will begin Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a service at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Maumee. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Maumee.
