James A. Omey

James A. Omey, age 69, of Toledo, passed away peacefully September 13, 2016 in Frisco, TX while doing what he loved best, spending time with his family. Jim was born May 22, 1947 in Toledo to the late Franklin and Margaret (Custer) Omey. He graduated from Woodward High School in 1966 and spent his career as a sheet metal worker and foreman with Local 33. Some of the projects he worked on include Flower and St. Anne’s Hospitals. Never one to sit still, he was currently employed part-time at Unistrut Corp. in Toledo. Jim was a long time member of Grace Lutheran Church, a member of Sylvania Pyramid Lodge 287 and Past Worshipful Master of Harbor Light Lodge 746 F. & A.M. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and fishing. He looked forward to his yearly trip with his sons and grandsons to Fletchers Pond. Jim found his greatest joy in spending time with his seven grandchildren and watching their various sporting events. He will be remembered for his kind, generous and fun-loving personality and for the deep compassion and care he offered others. Jim is lovingly survived by his best friend and wife of 49 years, Nancy A. Omey; children, Todd (Kristi) and Kevin (Darla) Omey, and Jennifer (Tony) Attanasio; beloved grandchildren, Kyler, Kelsi, Kennedy, Kolten, Chase, Trey and Cole; brother, Lee (Judy) Omey; and sister, Wavel (Bob) Grzegorzewski. Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday from 2-8 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where Masonic memorial services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, 2016 at Grace Lutheran Church, 4441 Monroe St., Toledo, OH 43613, where additional visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Toledo Memorial Park. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the church.
