OLSZEWSKI James Stanley James Stanley Olszewski died peacefully on November 29, 2007, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo after a courageous 14 month battle with pancreatic cancer, at the age of 64. He was born in Toledo, Ohio to Stanley and Elizabeth Olszewski on February 11, 1943. Jim was a 1961 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School and a 1965 graduate of the University of Toledo with a bachelors degree in Accounting. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1967 and, after working with Price Waterhouse for a few years, he and longtime friend Mike Marciniak established an accounting firm Marciniak Olszewski, CPAs. He worked with Mike for 20 years and, after selling that partnership, he went to work as executive vice president of finance for AVCA Corporation. In 2003 he opened James S. Olszewski Associates, CPA, where he worked with his son until he retired in October of 2007. He was a member of Christ the King Parish since 1989. Jim loved to spend time with his eight grandchildren, oftentimes attending their sporting events at the CYO fields or other places. He enjoyed meeting for ice cream in the summer months and driving around town in his convertible with his wife. He took great pride in his woodworking projects, gardening and landscaping. He served on the Board of Trustees for St. Francis de Sales High School and the Advisory Council of Notre Dame Academy. He had served as chairman of the Christ the King Parish Finance Council, Franciscan Care Center Corporation Board of Trustees, and the Retirement Plan for Lay Employees for the Diocese of Toledo. He also had been a part-time professor in the Accounting Department at the University of Toledo. Jim was a large supporter of Catholic education in Northwest Ohio using his time, talents and treasure. Jim is a former member of the Rotary Club of Toledo, The Toledo Club, and Inverness Country Club. Jim is preceded in death by his father, Stanley Olszewski and is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Betty Mechel. He is also survived by his loving wife of forty-three years, Marge; their four children and eight grandchildren, Cindy Rob, Zachary and Hope Poolos, Michael Colleen, Kevin and Maggie Olszewski, Debbie Chris, Adam and Matthew Spegele, and Pam Jim, James and Grace Sanford. Also surviving are his brother, Fr. Ronald Olszewski, OSFS; half sister, Jackie Jeff VanDemark; aunt, Felice Olszewski and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may visit the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Avenue west of Corey on Sunday from 2-8 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, beginning in the mortuary at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at Christ the King at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may take the form of a contribution to St. Francis de Sales High School or Hospice of Northwest Ohio. The family would like to extend a special thanks to his physicians, the staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo, and the many family and friends who provided so much support to him and Marge throughout his journey with cancer.
