James D. Norwalk, 72, of Oak Harbor, formerly of Walbridge and Genoa, died Thursday morning, September 26, 2013, at Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor, Ohio. James was born June 16, 1941, in Genoa, Ohio, to Ernest W. and Wilma V. Weyandt Norwalk and was a 1959 graduate of Genoa High School. He married Barbara H. Depew on December 27, 1975, in Elliston, Ohio, and she preceded him in death April 15, 1999. James had worked 10 years at Harbor Manufacturing, at the Genoa Pizza factory, and lastly for 13 years as a mechanic for Truckstops of America retiring in 2005. James was a handy man and enjoyed repairing lawn mowers and bikes. He was an avid bird watcher and animal lover. He was a real people person and will be missed by many. He is survived by his brothers, Edward, William Mary Virginia and Merle Florinda Norwalk, 23 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Mary Jim Norwalk and Patricia Norwalk, his daughters, Jamie Carl Eldridge, Barbara Hopkins, Linda Douglas, Juanita Keith Cowens, Ann Ronald Wright, Lynn Mike Davenport, Patsy Matt Haley, and Tina Steve Parson. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Debra Anderson and brothers, Ernest, Jr. and Charles Norwalk. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Monday, September 30, 2013, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, Ohio, where the service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 1, 2013. The family would like memorial contributions for James to be directed to American Parkinson Disease Assoc., 135 Parkinson Ave., Staten Island, NY 10305; or the American Diabetes Assoc., 300 Galleria Officentre, Southfield, MI 48034.
