James Motter

May 27, 1940 — May 9, 2024

“THOU WILT HOLD ME WITH YOUR RIGHT HAND. YOU WILL GUIDE ME WITH YOUR COUNCIL AND AFTERWARD RECEIVE ME TO GLORY.”

Jim entered the glorious presence of his Lord and Savior May 9, 2024 following a long illness.

He was born in Cleveland Ohio May 27, 1940, to Theodore and Lois Motter, the eldest of 6 children.

Jim married Margaret Clay in 1963 and to them were graciously given three children, Elizabeth, [predeceased] Kathryn and Robert, who were the joy of his life. When his two grandchildren, Justin and Molly were born he could not have been a happier grandpa. He was very proud of them both, doing as many things with them as his abilities allowed. He also greatly loved his son-in-law, Scott, and daughter-in-law, Jill, and was proud of both of them.

He enjoyed camping with his family, from the west coast to the eastern most parts, and from north to the furthest south. He also enjoyed flying large kites, auto racing events with Rob, and boating and camping on Lake Erie with his family. He also enjoyed landscape gardening with Margaret and they went on many daytrips together. Additionally, he loved getting together with long- time friends and care group for meals and fellowship.

He was a long-time member of Westgate Chapel, serving in many capacities there including Elder, Sunday School Teacher, and board member thru the years.

He had many years of employment with various companies both national and international, and obtained many patents. While he was a very accomplished business man, his Lord, his family and friends were more important to him, and his interests in life were simple. His love for his Lord came first with much time and thought and prayer for those he loved and served.

He took care of three of our parents until their death, giving up the end of his career to give them care and time. He considered it his privilege and joy to serve them.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret, children Kathryn and Robert, grandchildren Justin Michael, and Molly Elizabeth, his siblings Joy, Judy (Bob), John (Arlene), Jerome (Brenda) and Joseph (Barb), many nephews and nieces and all Margaret’s many family members as well.

We are sorrowful but not without hope. We carry our memories of him with joy, and precious Husband, Dad, Brother, and Friend again in heaven forever with our Lord and Savior.

Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forward forevermore. Knowing that He will keep that which we have committed unto him against that day. Jesus doeth all things well.

Remembrances may be sent to Cherry Street Missions, Bella Vita Pregnancy Center, or to a ministry of your choice. Private burial, there will be a memorial at a future date.
