James 'Jim' Moses passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at the age of 85 surrounded by family at Franciscan Care Center in Sylvania, Ohio. Jim was born in Toledo, OH in 1938 and resided in the Toledo area until 2013 when he moved to Shelby, NC where he enjoyed the warm southern breezes, gentle people, and the love of his remarkable wife of 63 years. He returned to Toledo in 2021.
Jim was a Home Builder in the Northwest Ohio area and enjoyed creating dreams for his special clients. He was known as a giving soul who found great joy in helping others, especially children. Jim, with his brother Dick and dozens of suppliers, built three homes for Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northwest Ohio and funded over 100 wishes for local children suffering from life-threatening illnesses.
Jim had a gift of never meeting a stranger and would approach anyone in a store, at dinner, or a special event that was a good listener. His humorous stories left folks laughing or shaking their heads. With a heart and a smile that was always bigger than life, he was a kind soul that was always excited to share advice to all that knew him. His legacy will continue with his remarkable family and memories of him are sure to bring a heartfelt smile forever.
He is proceeded in death by his wife, Virginia 'Catherine' Moses, father, James H. Moses, mother, Mary 'Jean' Moses, sister, Vera 'Ann' Moses, and brother, Richard 'Dick' Moses. He is survived by his mother-in-law, Evelyn 'Jenese' Perkins of Jellico, TN and children, Jeff (Tammy) Moses of Holland, OH, Mark (Kathy) Moses of Shelby, NC, Jana (Mike) Whitmore of Holland, OH and Dan (Kristie) Moses of Swanton, OH along with 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Jim and Catherine shared a wonderful and loving relationship and marriage that spanned over six decades. Mom was a Saint that helped this rare occurrence.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Thursday, August 31st at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W Sylvania Ave, Toledo, OH 43623. Visitation at 11:00am with a memorial service beginning at noon. Jim donated his body to the University of Toledo Medical Center and the family requests any donations be made in his honor to the Sisters of St. Francis, 6832 Convent Blvd. Sylvania, OH 45360. Our family is eternally grateful that his final journey was gentle, soulful, and filled with love from the caring staff of Kind Heart Hospice and our friend Joanie.
