James C. Maxwell, age 72, of Toledo, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at The Toledo Hospital. Jim worked in the banking industry and was Executive-Vice President of several banks but locally worked for the former Sylvania Savings Bank. He retired in 2003. Jim was a member of the Sylvania Chamber of Commerce and was a previous Sylvania Township Administrator. He was born on May 3rd, 1938 in Smithville, Tennessee to Willie and Vestie Underhill Maxwell. He graduated from Adrian College where he played football his first year and was a member of ATO. Jim adored his family and his grandchildren. He loved baseball games, fishing, family vacations and being in the out of doors. Jim loved taking care of his yard. He enjoyed reading, antiquing, and working on cars especially his 64 Mustang. Jim, a talented woodworker, enjoyed making wood ducks, trains, Noahs Ark, and toys for his grandchildren. He was also an accomplished oil painter. He loved to talk and quiz the family about baseball at the dinner table. Jim traveled with the Stinger Hockey team as a sponsor. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo; daughter, Cynthia Renee Maxwell; grandchildren, James Tyler Ball, Rachel Catherine Ball, and Nathan Douglas Ball; son-in-law, James Doug Ball; brother, Jerry Carlene Maxwell; nephews, Brent Maxwell and Scott James; and niece, Holly Maxwell. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Marilyn Dawn Ball; his parents; brother, Ronald Maxwell; sister-in-law, Elaine James and her husband, Thomas James. Friends and family may visit on Monday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave., west of Corey Rd. where Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 11 am.
