James Louis Lehnert

February 6, 1933 — July 30, 2023

James Louis Lehnert, age 90 passed away July 30, 2023, at Browning Masonic Community. Jim was born on February 6, 1933, in Toledo, Ohio to Frank and Elba (Hoftfreter) Lehnert.


Jim graduated from Waite High School in 1951. He then joined the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War as a Paramedic; he was working with the injured soldiers at the hospital after coming from the M.A.S.H. units for 3 ½ years. Honorably serving his country in a time of war.


Jim married the former Carol Ann Koester in 1970; she passed at age 33 in 1973. After her passing a short time later he moved to Florida where he resided for 40 years.


Jim retired from Disney World after 16 years. He received the Honorable Partner of Excellence Award from Disney. Then shortly after retiring, he moved back to Toledo in 2012 to be near his family.


He was a member of the Korean War Association N.W. Ohio Chapter #131, a 60-year member of D.A.V. Harbor Light Lodge #746; he also was a member of the Rubincon Lodge #321, a 60-year member of the Zenobia Shriners, a member of High Twelve International, a member of a VFW post in Toledo. He was Browning’s Trainmaster and past president of Browning Residential Council.


Jim also volunteered at the Polk County (Florida) Sheriff’s Office for 2 years and the American Red Cross S.F.M.A.


Surviving is his daughter, Tamara Sue Lehnert of Toledo area; nephews, John (Lynn) Lehnert of Maumee and Stan (Cindy) Lehnert of Monclova; niece, Cindy Enslen of Fort Myers, FL.; special caregivers’ nephew, Walter Madanski of Cape Coral, FL. and Jim’s sister-in-law, Pat Madanski of North Fort Myers, FL.; also, stepdaughters, Tammy and Karen. A special thanks to Thad Jones “T.J.” a close friend.


Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Elba Lehnert; wife, Carol Ann; and brother, Frank Lehnert.


Visitation will be at Browning Masonic Community, 8883 Browning Dr. Waterville, Ohio on August 8, 2023, from 9 AM-11 AM. Burial will be private.
