James B. Kistner, age 91, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on October 9, 2026. Born May 1, 1935, in Toledo, Ohio, Jim lived a long and meaningful life centered on family, kindness, and love.
Although he spent many years in Phoenix, Arizona, Toledo always remained close to his heart. Jim found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved baking for family and friends, cheering on Ohio State football, and following the Cleveland Indians. More than anything, he treasured time spent with those he loved.
Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose strength and caring nature touched everyone he met. He was a genuinely good man who led by example, showing compassion, humility, and a willingness to help others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey William and Helen Kistner; his beloved wife, Louise Kistner; his brother, Bill Kistner; his sister, Kathy; and his stepson, Mark Kahl.
Jim leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory, including his children, Debbie (Bill) Boisselle, Tim (Karen) Kistner, and Tami Schmidlin; his stepson, Greg Kahl; his brother, Tom (Sue) Kistner; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness, wisdom, and friendship.
While his family mourns his passing, they also celebrate a life well lived. Jim's legacy is not found in titles or accomplishments, but in the lives he touched, the values he shared, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at The Back Forty, 5215 Monroe Street, Toledo, Ohio. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor Jim's life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Providence Lutheran Church in Holland, Ohio, or LifeWise Northwest Ohio Classical Academy in Toledo.
