James William JW Keyser, 78 of Oak Harbor, went home to be with the Lord Friday afternoon, January 27, 2012, in Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor, Ohio. He was born March 10, 1933, in Catlettsburg, Kentucky, to George William and Ruth Kirk Keyser. On January 2, 1950, in Greenup County, Kentucky, he married Marieatha M. Booth and she survives. JW was an entrepreneur in the cable industry. He was a true visionary. JW built a single cable system in three states and got the first small business association loan in the country for cable TV industry. He won an HBO award for the most inventive free preview weekend. JW was President of the West Virginia Cable TV Assoc., as well as a Shriner and 32nd degree Mason. He was a very community oriented and very generous man. His many loves included car and movie collecting, boating and fishing, and shopping. JW traveled all the continents and with his wife, took many cruises. In addition to his wife, Marieatha, JW is survived by his children, Candy Thom Reed of Lafayette, IN, Cindy Bryan Maynard of South Point, OH, James Dale Amy Jo Keyser of Huntington, WV, and George Lisa Keyser of South Point, OH, grandchildren, Nicholas Reed, Ryan Reed, Ashley Reed, Brittany Maynard, Brianna Cory Patrick and James Austin Keyser, and one great grandchild, Brycen McCann, and also Michael and Michaela Pelfrey. He is also survived by his brother, Ronald Lee Fanny Keyser of Kenova, WV, sister, Judy Kertes of Canton, OH, nieces and nephews, aunts, Mable and Nora Keyser, uncles, Sherwood and Calvin Kirk, sisters-in-law, Corrine Joe Gilbert and Helen Art Porter, and brother-in-law, Jay Alice Booth. As well as family, JW is survived by many Lodge brothers, fishing companions and business associates. His parents and infant son, John H. Keyser, preceded him in death. Visitation will be in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor, from 3-6 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2012, with a Masonic service at 6 p.m. and a Celebration of Life at 6:30 p.m. The family has suggested memorials for JW to the Shriners Childrens Hospital.
