James C. Kerscher

James C. Kerscher, age 93, passed away May 15, 2010 at his residence in Parkcliffe Community, where he lived for the past 15 months with his wife, Mary. Jim was born to Joseph and Mary Kerscher on March 5, 1917 in Toledo, OH. He was a graduate of DeVilbiss High School and was a veteran of WWII. Jim worked for Electric Autolite for 25 years and was co-owner of While-Away Products with his brother, Clarence specializing in TV towers and antennas, golf caddies, medical equipment, and Go-Karts. Jim loved dancing and music, especially Lawrence Welk, and was an avid volleyball player, playing at the South Toledo Y and Rossford Recreation Center with the senior volleyball group until he was 91. He also enjoyed working on his car. Jim was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church for 64 years and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. Jim is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Mary Beckman; children, James Lynda Kerscher of Rome, GA; Susan Joseph Meyers of Toledo, and Sally Kerscher Tony Horn of Bellevue, KY; grandchildren, Mike Kerscher of Bozeman, MT, Craig Kerscher of Rome, GA, Jamie Meyers of Toledo, and Jon Meyers, of Toledo; 5 great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers, and 2 sisters. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 2255 Central Grove, Toledo, OH 43614, from 9:30-10:30am with Mass of the Resurrection beginning at 10:30am.
