James “Jim” R. Mauder, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024 at the Advanced Specialty Hospital of Toledo. He was born on March 5, 1938, in Wood County, Ohio to Norman and Caroline (Buda) Mauder. Jim hired in on the Pennsylvania Railroad at 18 retiring in 1999 after 43 years. He was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Walbridge, Ohio and the Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of Fatima Council, where he rose to the rank of Grand Knight. Jim loved the game of golf and was in a league which he founded at the Chippewa Golf Course. Later in life he found he had a knack for carving walking sticks and enjoyed giving them away to family and friends. Jim, “Grampy” to those who loved him the most, was the most honest, generous and humble man who also fancied himself a comedian…famous for his pithy punchlines.
Jim is survived by his wife Belva “Bev”; daughters, Kim (Chuck) Beckman-Wine and Kris (David) Anderson; grandchildren, Zachary (Erika) Anderson, Lucas Beckman and Jacob (Sidney) Beckman; great grandchildren, Avery Anderson, Kendyl Jude and Curran Beckman; siblings, Sue (Phil) Stewart, Bernadine “Deed” Gargac; sisters-in-law, Doris “Dodie” Mauder and Therese Mauder; brothers-in-law Walt LeBarr and Terry Cress. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Francis “Chub”, William “Bill’, Raymond, Norman Jr. “Butch”, Lawrence “Larry”, Jean LeBarr, Ann Shepherd, Norma Cannon, Helen (Sis) Snyder, Josephine Yant; sisters-in-law Doris Mauder and Margie Mauder; brothers-in-law, Ray Gargac, Pat Cannon and Walt Snyder; and his son-in-law Ed Beckman.
We would like to share our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the staffs of the St. Charles Hospital ICU and the Advanced Specialty Hospital for their compassionate care.
