James "Jim" Mathew Lewis

James Mathew Lewis, 60, of Toledo, OH passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at the Cleveland Clinic. He was also affectionately known as “Jim” and “Jamie”. He was born on July 23, 1962 in Toledo, OH to Nathan and Phyllis (Hudson) Lewis. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1980. Jim served in the U.S. Army after high school and was stationed in Germany. He worked previously at Asphalt Material Co. and as a mechanic for Taylor Cadillac in Toledo. Jim enjoyed working on cars and doing body work with his son, fishing with his daughter, staying up late with his kids watching movies, watching ghost shows, and scarring people. He had a very sarcastic sense of humor and liked to give people “Charlie Horses”. He was known to be loving, protective, caring, sometimes stubborn and hot headed, but an absolutely amazing grandfather, which the grandkids called him “Papa”. He was also known to be a great storyteller. Jim loved cooking for Donna anytime and he enjoyed candies, especially anything hot and spicy.

In addition to his wife, Donna, he is survived by his son, James Mathew Lewis, Jr. and his children, Jennifer Leigh Lewis and James Mathew Lewis, III, daughter, Christina (Aaron) Grajczyk, and her children, Richard “Ricky” Johnston, Ethan James Achinger, Elizabeth Lee Michelle Achinger, Taylor Grajczyk, and Layne Grajczyk, son, Christopher Hughlett, and siblings, Nathan Lewis, Kenny Lewis, Jerry Lewis, and Tina Bundy. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Gabriel Michael Achinger.

The Walker Funeral Home & Crematory – Oregon Chapel, 3500 Navarre Ave, Oregon, OH is assisting the family with cremation arrangements. A Celebration of Life will be hosted by the family at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 1, 2022 at his daughter, Christina’s home located at 2058 Redbud Lane, Delta, OH.
