James “Jim” Patrick Bremer, 64, of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, June 24, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born in Toledo, Ohio on February 20, 1958 to his late parents Edward and Jeanne (Chambers) Bremer where he grew up alongside his twin brother, John.
Jim attended Christ the King grade school followed by St. John’s Jesuit High School. Upon graduation, he went on to attend the University of Toledo where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Jim went on to meet the love of his life Pat at a high school retreat before marrying her in 1983. They raised two daughters together and there is no joy that could surpass that of being with his family. Professionally, at just 25 years of age, Jim and his twin brother became co-owners and operators of their family business, Bremer Vending. Jim was a proud business owner who had a genuine love for his customers. He was a long term board member and recently the Vice President of the Ohio Coin Machine Association (OCMA). Throughout his career he became friends with many he encountered in the vending and restaurant communities.
Jim was a very social and outgoing person who could make anyone laugh at any given time. He knew how to make any situation fun. He was also a faithful Catholic and always stood firm in his beliefs. He was amazingly positive and had a determination next to none, all the way through his final moments. While at times a homebody, he had a large circle of friends whom he loved, and they will miss him dearly.
Jim adored his family and was extremely proud of his marriage. He and Pat were each other’s best friend and were often described as the “perfect match” by those who knew them. They had a special bond and along with his daughters they enjoyed traveling the world, cooking, and attending the University of Michigan football games. One of his family’s best memories of him is at his daughter’s wedding reception in 2021 where he got to celebrate one of the most joy-filled days surrounded by his entire family and friends. Above all material things, Jim treasured his family the most and valued the time spent and memories made with them more than anything.
Jim had many interests including the privilege to coach his daughters in softball at Christ the King, where on many occasions he surprised the team with donuts and ice cream after their practice. He was his daughters’ #1 cheerleader and supported them no matter what. He also loved to garden, learn about business and finance, and occasionally watch some T.V. while eating a good piece of cheese.
Jim was a loving husband, father, brother, son, and friend. His family will remember him as the funny, generous, and hardworking man that he always was. He was uniquely genuine and kept his loyalties strong. His thoughtfulness and humility were apparent to all who knew him, and he will positively impact his family indefinitely.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his dear wife, Patricia Bremer; daughters, Sarah (Michael) Jerge, Andrea Bremer; brother, John (Nancy) Bremer; cousin, Jeanne Reitz; brother in laws, Michael (Mary) Tate, Robert (Lori) Tate; and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.
