James "Jim" Jacobs, beloved husband, devoted father, grandfather, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2024, at Flower Hospital. He was 83 years old.
Born to George William and Irene Winifred (Schmeltz) Jacobs in Grand Rapids, Michigan on September 22, 1940, Jim grew up to become a man of many talents, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew him.
Jim's journey was one of dedication and service. He honorably served his country in the US Army. After his time in the military, Jim was a skilled welder. His craftsmanship was unparalleled. Countless items made from beer kegs, from lamps to grills, showed his ingenuity and skill to make or fix anything.
He found joy and fulfillment in many hobbies. An avid golfer, he could often be found with his brother Bill on the greens. His love for working on cars was legendary and he had a fondness for classic cars. Camping trips were a fun family tradition creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Jim had a playful side as well, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether he was shooting pool with friends, mastering the art of Wii bowling, or embracing the rhythm of cardio drumming, Jim approached every activity with a contagious zest for life.
More than anything else, Jim was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Victoria. Their love was a beacon of strength and companionship, enduring over 51 years until Victoria's passing in February 2016. Ironically, he joined her in heaven on what would have been their 60th wedding anniversary.
Jim leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering determination. He will be deeply missed by his children, Ed (Lisa) Jacobs and Mary Jacobs; grandchildren, Ian Jacobs, Alissa (Zach) Karpuszka, and Austin Jacobs; great granddaughter, Amelia Grace Karpuszka; extended family, and countless friends, including those special to him at Wolf Creek Condominiums, whose lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Victoria Jacobs; siblings, Kay Spencer, Joyce Smothers, and Bill Jacobs.
Friends will be received at Sujkowski Walker Funeral Home, 830 Lime City Rd, Rossford, Ohio on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, from 3:00 PM-8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Burial will be private in Restlawn Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to Wolf Creek Condominiums or the Red Cross.
