James Wallace Jw Jackson

October 16, 1944 — March 29, 2017

James (JW) Wallace Jackson, 72, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Stein Hospice in Sandusky, Ohio after a long fight with cancer. He leaves his two daughters Lynn Reau and Jeni Davis; son-in-law Joe Reau, granddaughter Heather Reau; close friends Cindy Webb, Roni and Chris Johnson, Bob and Chan Reau, and many others. He enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends in Oak Harbor even though the weather was much colder than Florida. JW was born on October 16, 1944 in Fargo, North Dakota. At the young age of 17 he joined the Navy and traveled the world. He flew mainly in S3s off of aircraft carriers and learned as much as he could about the planes. JW often said, If it werent for flying he wouldnt have stayed in the Navy. JW married the love of his life Phyllis Lynn Huntley on July 4, 1975. Phyllis pasted away early to get everything set up for her and JW in heaven on June 9, 2010. JW retired, Master Chief, after 26 years in the Navy on August 31, 1988. JW and Phyllis settled in Jacksonville, Florida to pursue bass fishing. JW participated in many bass tournaments and won one of the tournaments with the biggest fish caught. This fish hung in his home from then on. JW loved fishing so much he worked at a marina and boat yard, Ortega. He loved running the parts department. After the passing of his wife, JW was finally persuaded to move to Oak Harbor, Ohio with his dog CoCoa to be closer with his daughter Lynn and son-in-law Joe, granddaughter Heather, and other friends in 2015. He was diagnosed with cancer soon after moving and never gave up or left the fight. JW enjoyed cooking, fishing, racing, and being surrounded by family and friends. He will be greatly missed and thought about often. He will be buried at the Jacksonville National Cemetery with his wife Phyllis after a private grave side service.
