James “Jim” Hansen, 87, of Port Clinton, OH passed away, Friday, May 18, 2018 at the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, OH. Jim was born on November 05, 1930 in Port Clinton, OH, the son of Henry H. and Katherine M. (Nielsen) Hansen. He was a 1948 graduate of Port Clinton High School and also graduated from the University of Toledo. On August 21, 1960 in Marietta, OH, he married Edna L. Scott and she survives. Jim worked as an electrician for NASA Plumbrook, Sandusky, OH, was an instructor at EHOVE and started the industrial electricity program there, Terra Technical College and was in quality assurance at Davis-Besse until 1988. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955, during the Korean War, Ohio Air National Guard and the Ohio National Guard until 1990. Jim was a member, deacon and on the property committee at St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton, OH. He was a member and past president of the Ottawa County Shrine Club. Jim was the president of Gypsum Knights and started the Friends of Camp Perry. He was a life member of the NRA, OSU Alumni and University of Toledo Alumni. He was a trustee for the Port Clinton Kiwanis Club and a Port Clinton city councilman (Ward 3) from 2004-2009. He was voted Port Clinton Citizen of the year in 2010. Jim was a member of the Oliver H. Perry Masonic Lodge #341 F. & A.M. and the Scottish Rite, Toledo, Ohio. Those left to cherish his memory are: Loving Wife of 57 years: Edna L. Hansen of Port Clinton; Son: Bruce Allen (Mary) Hansen of Citrus Heights, CA; Daughter: Linda Lee Overstreet of Fremont, OH; Grandchildren: Allen, Tyler, Malachy and Carita and Sister: Esther Hansen (Norman) Beck of Seguin, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jim will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8pm, Monday, May 21, 2018 at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH, with a Masonic service conducted at 7:00pm. Funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at St. John Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery.
