James D. Grodi

James D. Grodi, 68, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away Monday, April 15, 2013 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. James was born on September 02, 1944 in Port Clinton, OH, the son of Clarence Cracker and Charlotta Wendt Grodi. On April 23, 1965 in St. John Lutheran Church, he married Connie Grover and she survives. James worked as an equipment operator for Masonry Construction, Port Clinton. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving during the Vietnam War. James was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Port Clinton, the Oak Harbor Conservation Club, Portage River Rats Canoe Club and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, camping, fishing and amateur radio. James loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Survivors include: Loving Wife of 47 years: Connie Grodi; Son: Michael J. Tara Grodi; Daughter: Dawn John Salyers and Grandchildren: Collin, Shaina, Eryn & Aubree. James was preceded in death by his parents, infant son: James D. Grodi Jr. and sister: Janet Minke. Funeral service will be held at 8:00PM, Thursday, April 18, 2013 in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH, with visitation three hours prior, from 5-8PM. Interment will be private in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton. Memorial donations in memory of James may be given to the Juvenile Diabetes Assoc. of Toledo, OH, Port Clinton Fire Dept or Stein Hospice, Sandusky, OH.
