James A. Flickinger

James A. Flickinger, age 61, of Delta, Ohio, died Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the farm with his family by his side. Jim was born in Toledo to the late Hollie Lloyd and Geneva May Entenmann Flickinger. He married Kristine Louise Valentine on December 17, 1971 in Toledo. Jim was a graduate of Rogers High School and attended Penta Technical College and the University of Toledo. He was a self employed carpenter and Fulton County farmer and formerly owned and operated the University Sunoco on Dorr Street. Jim was a member of Fulton Union Church in Delta, the Farm Bureau and National Rifle Association. Jim raced the IMSA circuit and was sponsored by the Marathon Oil Company. He also raced sand drags and mud bogs. Jim was an avid boater and camper, enjoyed spending time at Devils Lake and in Las Vegas. He also liked to fix things and was meticulous about his tools. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Jim spent much of his free time with family. He assisted his children with their 4-H endeavors and always had time and answers for his loved ones. He will also be remembered for his great sense of humor and boisterous personality. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Kristine; children, Laura Jean Jimmy Wilson, Rene Monique Ralphie Carter and James Guy Amie Flickinger; grandchildren, Christopher Flickinger, Dustin Wilson, Trevor Carter, Madalynn Wilson, Autumn Carter, Ciarra Flickinger, and Wyatt James Flickinger; great grand baby Flickinger; sister, Bonnie Emily Joe Buck; and half sister, Susan Lake Hoffman Mark Perry; best buds, John, Tony and Skip; and his dog Shooter. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd., Toledo. A memorial service to celebrate Jims life will be 11 a.m., Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Fulton Union Church, 5232 Co. Rd. HJ, Delta, Ohio. Memorials are suggested to the Owens Community College Foundation Scholarship or American Kidney Foundation.
